Pune road accident turns tragic as car slams into bystanders, resulting in eight fatalities

A horrific accident took place on Tuesday evening along the Jejuri-Morgaon Road in Pune district, where a high-speed car crashed into bystanders, leaving eight people dead and four others injured, including two children. Pune Rural Police verified the information.
The crash occurred around 6:45 PM in front of Shriram Dhaba, near the Kirloskar Company, and falls within the Jejuri Police Station’s jurisdiction. According to police sources, Somnath Wayse, the owner of Shriram Dhaba, was helping unload a refrigerator from a delivery pickup truck when a Swift Dzire suddenly struck them from behind at considerable speed. The violent impact resulted in the immediate deaths of eight individuals, seven men and one woman.
The victims have been named as Somnath Ramchandra Wayse, Ramu Sanjeevani Yadav, Ajay Kumar Chavan, Ajit Ashok Jadhav, Kiran Bharat Raut (from Pawarwadi), Ashwini Santosh, Akshay Raut, and one unidentified man. All bodies were transported to Jejuri Rural Hospital for autopsies.
Among the injured are one man, one woman, and two young children. They are receiving treatment at Shantai Hospital in Jejuri.
Jejuri Police have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine how the accident occurred. They are also working to confirm the identity of the unknown male victim. Initially, authorities believed seven people had died in the crash. On Wednesday, Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill stated, “Seven individuals have died in a road accident involving a sedan and pickup truck on Jejuri-Morgaon Road. Further details are awaited.”
Meanwhile, another tragedy unfolded in Pune on June 15 when a bridge over the Indrayani River collapsed, claiming four lives and injuring 51. Three of the deceased were identified as Chandrakant Salve, Rohit Mane, and Vihaan Mane, while one male remains unidentified.
