According to reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is spearheading the observance of the 11th International Day of Yoga on Saturday. The prime minister was spotted doing a variety of yoga poses at a lavish event in Visakhapatnam. This year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” aligns with India’s broader vision of global harmony and wellness, emphasizing the deep connection between individual and planetary health. It draws inspiration from the Indian principle of “Sarve Santu Niramaya” – a wish for universal freedom from illness.
PM Modi reached Visakhapatnam on Friday evening, where he was welcomed by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, the Prime Minister will join over 3 lakh people at the main venue in Visakhapatnam to execute the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) simultaneously with participation at more than 10 lakh venues nationwide under the ‘Yoga Sangam’ campaign. The large-scale yoga demonstration will take place from 6:30 to 7:45 AM and is expected to witness record-breaking involvement across India.
Across Andhra Pradesh, over 2 crore people are anticipated to take part in yoga sessions at one lakh designated locations. The state government is also making efforts to secure a Guinness World Record as part of the event. Furthermore, 50 lakh yoga participation certificates will be issued to registered individuals, making this celebration truly historic.
Meanwhile, Delhi will see major yoga celebrations too, with events organized at 109 locations, including a flagship program at the Red Fort. To ensure grassroots engagement, PM Modi has addressed a letter to all Gram Pradhans, stating that yoga has significantly improved lives not only within India but globally.
Although 1 lakh registrations were the target number for the June 21 event nationwide, over 11 lakh organizations and groups have registered, according to the Ministry of AYUSH’s Yoga portal. With 2.25 lakh registrations, Rajasthan is the most registered state.
