Foreign national arrested, 600 grams of MDMA crystals seized worth ₹1.2 crore in illegal market

In a major drug bust in Bengaluru, authorities apprehended a foreign national suspected of trafficking banned narcotics. This arrest was the result of a coordinated effort between the Narcotics Control Unit of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) and the Avalahalli Police. During the operation, law enforcement officials seized 600 grams of MDMA crystals, also known as “white MDMA,” with an estimated street value of ₹1.2 crore.
Acting on reliable intelligence, the police registered a case at the Avalahalli Police Station on June 12. Following this, a raid was conducted at a residence in K. Dommasandra village, situated on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The suspect, whose identity and nationality have not been publicly disclosed, was caught in possession of the synthetic drug.
During initial questioning, the accused reportedly confessed to procuring the illegal substance from unknown sources. He revealed that he purchased the MDMA at a lower price and sold it at significantly higher rates to generate large profits. Authorities believe the suspect could be linked to a wider drug distribution network operating within the city.
The individual was taken into custody for three days to facilitate further interrogation. On June 16, he was presented before a magistrate and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
Representatives from the CCB’s Narcotics Control Unit, who spearheaded the operation alongside Avalahalli Police, stated that this arrest is part of a broader crackdown aimed at combating the proliferation of synthetic drugs across Bengaluru. Investigators are now focusing on uncovering the supply chain behind the seized narcotics and identifying additional participants in the illicit trade.
This case adds to a rising trend of drug-related arrests involving foreign nationals in the city. Law enforcement agencies have reaffirmed their commitment to intensify anti-drug operations and have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
The arrest highlights the challenges Bengaluru faces as synthetic drug use and trafficking continue to rise. Authorities emphasize the importance of community cooperation in curbing this menace and protecting public health and safety. Through sustained efforts, police hope to dismantle drug networks and prevent further spread of illegal substances within the city.
