Blue water from bathroom taps: illegal dyeing industries pollute groundwater in northern India
According to reports, these industries are releasing polluted water into the ground through borewells, severely compromising the groundwater quality.
Despite numerous complaints to authorities, including the Honourable Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Clean Ganga Mission, and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), no effective action has been taken.
This polluted water has infiltrated households, raising significant health concerns. Residents are now urgently appealing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for intervention. Detailed information about these illegal dyeing operations has been submitted through National Green Tribunal (NGT) case OA 353/2023, but the response remains inadequate.
The situation underscores the critical need for strict enforcement of environmental regulations and immediate measures to safeguard Delhi’s groundwater and public health.
