Devastating blaze tears through Ram Leela Maidan Exhibition following suspected short circuit, ravaging over 20 shops

The month-long exhibition, organized under the supervision of Nagar Palika, was approaching its final days when a sudden fire broke out, causing chaos and significant damage. Firefighting units were quickly dispatched to the location, where fire personnel worked relentlessly to control the blaze. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far, although the overall damage to property is still being evaluated.

Vijendra Dwivedi, SP City, Budaun, shared that the fire is believed to have started around 8:15 PM, possibly due to a short circuit. However, the exact cause remains unconfirmed, and a detailed investigation is underway. The flames spread rapidly through the exhibition area, affecting nearly 20 to 25 stalls and shops, many of which were filled with goods meant for the closing days of the event.

He stated,  “There are no casualties reported. An investigation is underway to determine the cause, and the losses of the shopkeepers are being assessed.”

Arun Kumar, Additional District Magistrate (Administration), Budaun, who was also present at the scene, echoed similar sentiments. He mentioned that although the specific reason behind the fire hasn’t been officially determined, it likely originated from an electrical issue. He praised the rapid intervention of the local fire brigade, which prevented the fire from escalating further and helped bring the situation under control.

“The fire has now been contained, and the authorities are actively investigating the cause,” he added, while assuring that all possible support would be extended to those affected.

Officials are currently focused on compiling a detailed report of the losses incurred by the vendors. The site, which was bustling with activity just days earlier, now stands charred and under inspection. As the probe continues, authorities are working closely with emergency response teams to ensure that safety measures are revisited and reinforced to prevent similar incidents in the future.
