Fierce fire breaks out at plywood factory in central India

Location Durg, Chhattisgarh, India. Date: 2023-05-22

A massive fire broke out at a plywood factory in central India’s Chhattisgarh.

This incident happened in Jewra Sirsa Chowki area of Durg district on May 22.

Visuals showed the fire which had spread across the whole area of the factory. The ashes left by the flames were seen at one side as efforts to extinguish it were underway. According to a report, it took 12 to 13 hours and more than 80 fire vehicles to put out the flames.

The windy weather made it tougher for the firefighters. Goods worth lakhs were said to be burnt in the flames. The report states that chemicals were used in the factory which didn’t have any equipment to tackle fire emergencies. Labourers who were at work in the factory, narrowly escaped. Had there been equipment to tackle the fire, it wouldn’t have been this severe.

The police would reportedly issue a notice to the factory owner as it didn’t have any fire equipment. They are also investigating this matter and have registered a case.
