IAF helicopters execute bambi bucket operations to combat wildfire in northern India
Indian Air Force Mi17 V5 helicopters were deployed to extinguish a raging wildfire using Bambi bucket operations in northern India’s Uttarakhand.
The incident took place at the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary in the Civil Soyam Forest Division in Almora on June 14.
Visuals showed a helicopter was seen fighting the fierce forest fire using a Bambi Bucket. The bucket, suspended from the helicopter, released large quantities of water over the raging flames, creating plumes of steam and smoke as it doused the fire below.
IAF Mi17 V5 helicopters took off from Sarsawa and conducted Bambi Bucket operations to extinguish a fire in Almora district.
According to reports eight forest workers were caught in a fire in Almora district of Uttarakhand, resulting in the death of four. The other four workers, who were severely burned in the fire at Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary in the Civil Soyam Forest Division, are currently receiving treatment. The Divisional Forest Officer of Civil Soyam, Dhruv Singh Martolia, reported that the incident occurred around 3:45 PM when a team of eight forest workers arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire after receiving information about it.
