The Ramban district in Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a harrowing incident as a massive landslide, fueled by incessant rainfall, unfolded in the Karol area on Monday. Tragically, amidst the chaos, a 13-year-old boy lost his life.

Expressing condolences, the Ramban administration conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, urging heightened vigilance and caution, especially in landslide-prone regions. The recent spate of heavy rains in Jammu and Kashmir has exacerbated the situation, causing further distress. Earlier on the same day, seven individuals, including a nine-year-old girl, sustained injuries when their residence collapsed due to landslides in Uri. Fortunately, all were rescued and received medical attention promptly.

Moreover, another alarming incident unfolded as an avalanche struck the Sonamarg region. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties or significant financial losses, as the avalanche veered towards the forested area, averting any damage. As Jammu and Kashmir grapples with the aftermath of these calamitous events, authorities emphasize the importance of preemptive measures and community awareness to mitigate risks associated with natural disasters.
