Identified as Swapan Kumar Ray, the man slipped while getting off the train and was about to fall into the gap between the vehicle and the platform. It was then the Railway Protection Force (RPF) cops Loknadam and Kum M Sampoorna, who were standing nearby, helped Ray. They pulled him away and took him away to the RPF post.

Ray informed the police that he was headed towards Puri in eastern India’s Odisha. He was travelling from Vellore’s Katpadi Junction railway station to Tirupati Central Railway Station. This accident, he says, was because of a heavy rush of passengers trying to board the train at Tirupati.
