Coolers installed to prevent transformer fires in northern India amid scorching heat

As temperatures soar in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh, authorities have taken an unusual step to prevent power outages and fires by installing large coolers around electrical transformers.

The incident took place in Lucknow on May 28.

Visuals showed the coolers installed near the transformers to provide some relief from the heat.

This measure comes in response to a spate of transformer fires caused by the extreme heat.

In the Jankipuram area, near the Sahara State Power House, these coolers have been strategically placed to keep transformers from overheating. This innovative solution aims to protect the city’s power infrastructure and ensure a stable electricity supply for residents.

With temperatures reaching record highs, the risk of transformers overheating and catching fire has significantly increased, leading to widespread concern. The installation of coolers is a temporary but necessary measure to combat the immediate threat posed by the intense heat.

Residents and local officials hope that these coolers will provide a reliable safeguard until temperatures begin to drop and more permanent solutions can be implemented.
