Fire at Pakistan airport disrupts flight operations
Fire erupted in immigration area of the International Airport and quickly spread, causing damage to the entire immigration system.
The incident took place at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore on May 9.
Visuals showed at the airport, chaos erupted as flames engulfed a section of the terminal, thick smoke billowing into the air. Frantic passengers and airport staff scrambled in all directions, their faces etched with panic, as they sought safety amidst the chaos.
A fire erupted in the immigration area of Allama Iqbal International Airport and quickly spread, causing damage to the entire immigration system, local broadcaster reported, which cited airport officials.
The damage also caused flight disruptions because the blaze completely destroyed the immigration area.
“Panic-stricken passengers present at the airport were seen running here and there to save their lives,” the broadcaster said.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, but some media reports suggest it was caused by a short circuit.
