Fire engulfs area while burning garbage in southern India, causes lakhs in damage

A fire broke out in southern India’s Andhra Pradesh, triggering panic among residents as thick black smoke filled the air. The incident occurred when workers were burning accumulated garbage behind, inadvertently igniting plastic trays and pipes.

 

The incident took place at KCP Laxman Nagar Colony in Vuyyuru on May 31.

Visuals showed a fire was spreading in an empty space near a residential area. Many people were present, and there was chaos and panic as the flames grew larger and everyone scrambled to stay safe.

 

The tranquility of Uyyuru’s KCP Laxman Nagar Colony was shattered as flames engulfed the area, prompting a swift response from local authorities. According to eyewitnesses, the fire erupted when workers attempted to burn accumulated waste behind Geetha Mandir. However, their efforts inadvertently led to the ignition of plastic trays and pipes utilized for cultivating Sri Sugar in the vicinity.

 

As the inferno raged on, thick black smoke billowed into the sky, causing alarm among nearby residents. Thankfully, the Uyyuru fire department promptly dispatched personnel to the scene, who swiftly brought the situation under control, preventing further escalation of the disaster.

However, the damage was already done, with plastic pipes and trays, essential for Sri Sugar cultivation, reduced to ashes. Preliminary estimates suggest that the value of the destroyed equipment amounts to around Rs 5 lakh, dealing a significant blow to the local agricultural community.

 

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause of the fire and ensure measures are in place to prevent similar occurrences in the future. In the meantime, residents of KCP Laxman Nagar Colony are urged to remain vigilant and exercise caution to prevent further mishaps.
