Heavy rain causes severe flooding in southern India, disrupts traffic on roads

Torrential rainfall led to extensive flooding on the streets in southern India’s Kerala , posing significant challenges for vehicular movement in the area.

The incident took place at Kasaragod Cherkala Road on May 7.

Visuals showed the heavy rain had flooded the road, making it difficult for cars to pass through.

Rainfall has commenced, bringing relief from the sweltering heat. The Meteorological Department has forecasted rain across the state for the upcoming five days. In particular, isolated areas in Kannur and Kasargod districts of Kerala are expected to witness light to moderate showers accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds reaching speeds of up to 40 km per hour within the next three hours.
