Twelve students were injured in a town in northeastern India’s Assam, when a tree branch fell on their school bus amid the severe weather caused by Cyclone Remal.
The incident took place in Dhekiajuli, Sonitpur district on May 28.
Visuals showed how the bus got damaged by the fallen tree.
The region has been experiencing torrential rains and strong winds due to the cyclone.
The incident occurred as the school bus was en route, with a large tree branch uprooted by the strong winds crashing onto the vehicle. Local authorities responded swiftly, rescuing the injured students and transporting them to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
Cyclone Remal has been causing significant disruption across Assam, with heavy rainfall and gusty winds leading to widespread damage and hazardous conditions. Residents are advised to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary and to remain cautious during this period of severe weather.
Emergency services are on high alert, and efforts are underway to clear debris and restore normalcy in the affected areas.
