Leopard attacks dog in safari in northern India
In a heart-wrenching incident, a chilling encounter unfolded in northern India’s Rajasthan as a leopard pounced upon a helpless dog.
The incident took place in Jhalana Leopard Safari, Jaipur on May 3.
Visuals showed the dog running around in the safari when, suddenly, the leopard appeared from behind and pounced upon it. Gripping the dog firmly in its jaws, the leopard dragged it away.
In a mere span of 5 seconds, the 6-year-old leopard named ‘Rana’ swiftly took the life of the dog. This entire incident was captured on camera by a tourist visiting Jhalana Leopard Safari. Surendra Sharma, the Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) at Jhalana, recounted the events, stating that around 5 pm on Friday evening, the leopard was concealed in the bushes near Arjun Talai on Route No. 2, actively searching for prey. Upon spotting the passing dog, the leopard swiftly moved into position for the hunt. With a sudden leap of three feet, it launched a lethal attack, resulting in the dog’s demise within seconds.

Rana, a 6-year-old male leopard, remains a popular attraction among tourists at Jhalana Leopard Safari, known for his aggressive demeanor and fearless roaming. Prior to Rana, the leopard ‘Kajod’ was quite active, followed by Juliet and the female leopard Flora, who were previously prominent in the area.
