Many affected after water supply pipe bursts in northeastern India

Over 600 people were reportedly left affected after a water supply pipe exploded in northeastern India’s Assam, leaving water to gush out and wreak havoc.
This incident happened in Kharguli area of Guwahati on May 24.
Visuals showed the water gushing out of the broken pipe with massive force. The force of the water was such that it rose to a great height, matching that of a tower nearby. Needless to say, it spread to a huge area, damaging houses and sweeping away several vehicles.
According to a report, one person, identified as Sumitra Rabha, died this incident while 30 others were left injured. Rabha’s house was damaged by the water. Th e injured were rushed to a hospital. The Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) gave an assurance to the people that the water supply, which was disrupted as a result of this accident, would be restored. The police are reportedly investigating the reason for the pipe to burst.
