Officials rescue 35 vehicles after snow-storm strikes pass in northern India

Officials of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) rescued 35 vehicles after a snow-storm struck the Razdan pass in northern India’s Jammu and Kashmir.

This incident happened on the Bandipora-Gurez road in Bandipora district of the state on April 28.

Visuals showed scenes from the spot which was covered completely with snow as a result of the storm. The aftermath of the snow storm saw several vehicles trapped in the same. These vehicles included both trucks as well as cars and they were enveloped in the snow completely. Later on, excavators were seen being used to rescue these vehicles which could not proceed further on the snow-covered terrain.

Speaking to Newslions, an official of the Border Roads Organisation stated that the passengers of all these vehicles were taken out first in a bid to ensure their safety. Not just this but the severe snow-storm resulted in the Gurez-Bandipora road being closed temporarily. Heavy snowfall also took place in the Dawar and Tulail areas.
