Politician unharmed after bridge collapse during campaign in eastern India

Political leader Dr. Numal Momin escapes uninjured after a bamboo bridge collapses during his campaign in eastern India’s West Bengal.

The incident took place at Jadavpur on May  24.

Visuals showed the moment the bridge gave way under Dr. Momin’s weight, sending him tumbling. Despite the unexpected fall, Dr. Momin quickly regained his composure and stood up unhurt.

In a dramatic incident during his campaign tour for the Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal’s Jadavpur constituency, BJP leader and Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, Dr. Numal Momin, narrowly avoided a serious accident.

The event unfolded when Dr. Momin attempted to cross a bamboo bridge, a common structure in rural areas, which suddenly collapsed beneath him. He fell into the dry river bed below but miraculously emerged without any injuries.

He had been actively engaging in house-to-house campaigning in the area, demonstrating his dedication to his political duties.

This incident highlights the inherent risks politicians face on the campaign trail, especially in rural regions with fragile infrastructure.
