Six elephants get trapped in pond in northeastern India, rescued

Six elephants were seen trapped in a pond in northeastern India’s Assam.

The incident took place at Chaibari near Lakhipur in the Goalpara district on July 16.

Visuals showed a group of elephants present inside a pond trying to escape from the place. They were seen getting in and out of the water, struggling to free themselves.

Later, a group of people were seen at the spot along with an excavator.

Speaking to Newslions, Jitendra Kumar, District Forest Officer said that after getting the information about the incident Range Forest Officer Lakhipur reached the spot along with an excavator to create a way for the pachyderms to come out. The elephants came out safely from the pond and entered the forest area.
