Sloth bear strays into residential area in southern India

A sloth bear strayed into a residential area in southern India’s Telangana.

This incident occurred in Manakondur mandal headquarters, Karimnagar district on February 6.

Visuals showed the wild animal sitting on top of a tree in the locality. It settled itself on the branches of the tree where it would go on to relax and rest. Below it was a busy road where vehicles were seen constantly moving. Unfazed by everything around it, the omnivore was seen in a relaxed mood on top of the branches. According to a report, the wild animal had come from the hillocks nearby the area and even attempted to enter the house in the wee hours of the morning.

The bear was subsequently spotted by street dogs who chased it away. It then ended up at the Karimnagar-Warangal national Highway where it climbed up on the tree after seeing all the vehicles. The report also states that the animal drew a large crowd and people also informed the forest department, who are trying to capture and rescue it.
