Tiger falls into well in southern India, rescued

Officials rescue a tiger that fell into the well in southern India’s Kerala.

The incident took place near Kalpetta in Wayanad on April 3.

Visuals showed the tiger sitting inside the well. The forest official was seen setting the tranquilizer. Later, the team covered the well with a net and after a long struggle hedl the tiger inside it. They pulled the net outside the well and successfully rescued the wild animal.

Forest officials stated that after being discovered trapped in the well early in the morning by locals, the tiger was successfully rescued around 2 pm (April 2) following an extensive operation lasting several hours.

A forest official providing details of the operation mentioned that the young feline was transferred onto an elevated platform, covered with a net, and after being partially lifted towards the top, it was sedated before being brought out of the well.

“It is currently under observation,” the official added.

A family residing in the vicinity discovered the tiger in the well while investigating why water couldn’t be pumped into the overhead tank from the well.

“Following this, they alerted us, and a team of officials quickly responded to the scene,” stated a senior forest official in the morning.
