Traffic on major highway restored after being closed for a week due to avalanche in northern India

After being closed for a week, the Srinagar-Leh highway was finally open for the resumption of vehicular movement, albeit on one side, in northern India’s Jammu and Kashmir.

This incident happened on April 4.

Visuals showed a glimpse of the avalanche which had earlier rocked the area and blocked the highway completely. Officials of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) worked hard to clear out the snow using heavy machines and all their efforts bore fruit as the road was made open for traffic to move on one way, from the Sonamarg side.

Visuals also showed vehicles moving on the highway after the snow was removed. The work of snow removal was done with a lot of perfection as the highway did not have any blockage whatsoever. Thick layers of the snow were on the sides but vehicles were able to move smoothly on the main path.
