Tragic bus collision claims five lives in southern India; voters returning from booth burnt alive

In a devastating accident in southern India’s Andhra Pradesh, a private bus carrying 40 passengers collided with a lorry, resulting in a fiery inferno that claimed the lives of five individuals.

The incident took place at Chilakaluripet mandal of Palnadu district on May 14.

Visuals showed at night, a terrifying fire engulfed a bus, turning it into ashes, while fire-fighting and police teams surrounded the scene, conducting investigations.

The horrific incident occurred on the journey back from Bapatla to Hyderabad, as the bus, laden with passengers eager to return home after casting their votes, collided with a lorry along the route. The collision sparked a fierce blaze, engulfing the bus and trapping its occupants inside.

Emergency services rushed to the scene to douse the flames and rescue survivors amidst the chaos. However, the intensity of the fire proved fatal for five individuals who were unable to escape, succumbing to burns before help could reach them. Numerous other passengers sustained injuries of varying degrees and were promptly transported to nearby medical facilities for urgent treatment.

The tragic accident has cast a pall of sorrow over the region, with authorities launching investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision. Eyewitnesses recount scenes of horror and heroism as bystanders and emergency responders worked tirelessly to save lives amidst the engulfing flames.
