Tribal woman forced to give birth on road after ambulance arrives late in southern India

Gangamani, a tribal woman, had to give birth on the road after the ambulance arrived late in southern India’s Telangana.

This incident happened in Nirmal district of the state, early on August 25.

Visuals showed the woman lying on the deserted road in pain while another lady stood at her feet. Later on, she was seen being taken out of an ambulance and the child too after they arrived at the spot. According to a report, Gangamani, who hailed from Tulsipet village, waited for the ambulance to arrive for a long time after which she decided to walk to the hospital. But the excruciating labour pain did not allow her to walk for long and eventually, she had to lie down on the road and deliver her baby boy there.

The ambulance arrived a few hours later after which Gangamani and her boy were taken to the Pembi Primary Health Care Center. The report also stated that there was a delay in the ambulance’s arrival as it had run out of diesel.
