Violent clash erupts over electoral dispute and water business in northern India

A heated altercation stemming from electoral tensions and disagreements over a water supply business in northern India’s Haryana led to a violent clash, involving stone pelting and gunfire.

The incident took place in Gurugram on April 19.

Visuals showed a tumultuous scene unfolding on the road as two groups engaged in a fierce altercation in the darkness of the night. Vehicles were recklessly driven into each other while stones were hurled. The atmosphere was charged with chaos and violence as members from both sides wielded sticks, striking out in a frenzy of aggression.

According to reports two groups clashed fiercely with each other, engaged in stone pelting. Meanwhile, firing also took place. According to information, electoral disputes along with water supply business have been cited as the reasons behind this violent clash.

CCTV footage shows a heated brawl and stone pelting between two groups. During this, attempts were made to run over each other with vehicles. In the midst of this brawl and stone pelting, a person appeared with a weapon and started firing. Fortunately, no one was shot during this incident. However, during the brawl and stone pelting, 5 people were injured, who have been admitted to the hospital. It is said that a member of one of the groups involved in the brawl had laid the foundation for this violence five years ago when his brother-in-law was awarded an election ticket and won the election to become a counselor. This displeased their neighbors who wanted to contest the elections themselves.

There had been rumors and disputes among them regarding this matter, but the issue had subsided. However, a while later, disputes arose again. Some of their relatives had recently received money from selling land and wanted to start a water supply business similar to their family’s. This led to arguments, which escalated into this incident, and gunfire occurred at their house at night. In the entire matter, the police have registered cases based on complaints from both groups and have initiated an investigation.

Peace has been maintained in the village, and police forces have been deployed for this purpose. The police have taken possession of the CCTV footage and started the investigation. Further action will be taken after the investigation.
