Bullock cart mishap: Man fatally run over during event in western India
In a tragic course of events, a bullock cart runs over man during an event in western India’s Maharashtra.

The incident took place in Waluj village is located in Khanapur tehsil of Sangli district on April 6.

Visuals showed the cart running uncontrollably, dashing into the crowd. It ran over a man who fell while trying to save himself, like the others present there. After running over the man, the cart fell sideways onto the ground.

According to reports, the bullock cart racing event was organized to commemorate the Urusa festival. Unfortunately, the event faced a setback when a young man lost his life after being crushed under a bullock cart wheel during the race. The victim, identified as 23-year-old Rohan Rajendra Ghorpade, suffered fatal injuries as the heavy wheel rolled over his body.

Despite being rushed to a nearby private hospital in Vitya, Rohan succumbed to his injuries en route. The incident occurred amidst the festivities in Walaj village, where running bullock carts has been a longstanding tradition. As per tradition, the bullock cart race commenced, but tragedy struck when one of the carts veered off course into the crowd of spectators. Rohan, caught in the frenzy, slipped and was fatally struck by the cart’s wheel, leading to his demise.
