A candidate from the Adivasi Kurmi community in eastern India’s West Bengal, made a unique statement as he filed his nomination seat while riding a buffalo.

Ajit Mahato, representing the Adivasi Kurmi community, turned heads on Friday as he arrived at the nomination center in Purulia, West Bengal, mounted on a buffalo with the Indian Constitution in hand.
The scene was nothing short of spectacular as Mahato led a colorful procession through the streets, capturing the attention of onlookers and media alike. Alongside traditional elements like sheep, chickens, and the customary Tusu dance of Purulia, supporters of the Kurmi community flooded the streets to show their solidarity.
Notably, leaders and supporters of the Kurmi community also made their presence felt, rallying behind Mahato as he submitted his nomination papers at the district election office. This unconventional yet vibrant display during the nomination process has undoubtedly made Ajit Mahato and the Adivasi Kurmi community stand out in the electoral landscape of Purulia.
