Heavy rain, storm leave behind trail of destruction in southern India

Heavy rain and storms hit southern India’s Karnataka, leaving a trail of destruction.

The incident took place in Mysuru on May 3.

Visuals showed the trees were uprooted and branches breaking and falling on the parked vehicles, blocking the road completely. People were seen running into the basement after they were shocked by the sight of destruction.

According to reports, Mysuru experienced heavy rainfall and strong winds that left behind a trail of destruction uprooting trees, bringing down electricity poles, and damaging vehicles.

Though the change in weather brought much-needed relief from the scorching heat to the residents, rain accompanied by roaring clouds and powerful storms caused power outages at several places and also brought traffic to a standstill at many places in the city.

This was the first significantly heavy rain of the year and lasted about 30 minutes which reduced the ambient temperature considerably.
