Customs officials find gold from underneath aircraft seat in northern India, probe underway

Officials of the Customs Department seized gold from under the seat of an aircraft in northern India’s Delhi.

This incident took place at the Indira Gandhi International airport on April 29.

Visuals showed the officials taking out the gold from underneath the seat of the aeroplane. The gold bars were wrapped and attached to each other on a rope. The official was able to extract all of the gold in one go. It was learnt that the weight of the gold which was found was 2999 grams (6.612 lbs).

The gold was valued at Rs 1.95 crore (USD 2,33,548.38). The flight in which the gold was found had arrived from Bangkok and further investigation is underway into this matter.
