Elephants fall into well, get rescued in southern India

An elephant was rescued by the forest department after it fell into a well in southern India’s Andhra Pradesh.

The incident happened in Gundla Palle village of Chittoor district on November 15.

Visuals feature the pachyderm struggling inside the well. It remains stuck in the compact space while a large crowd of onlookers gathers around.

Later, the elephant rescuers arrive at the spot, equipped with an excavator. They dug out a section of the land adjacent to the well, following which the pachyderm climbed the well and came out.

A joint team of forest officials led by IFS Chaitanya Kumar Reddy & fire brigade from the Gundla Palle area reached the spot and rescued the jumbo.
