Fire officials foil woman’s suicide attempt, rescues her from well in southern India

Fire brigade officials in southern India’s Telangana foiled a woman’s suicide attempt after she jumped into a well.

This incident happened at House No 17, Krishna Nagar, Karimnagar on December 9.

 

 

Visuals showed the fire officials rescuing the woman who had jumped into the well. One of the officials pulled the woman up and later tied a rope around her with which his colleagues were able to take her out of the well. Later, she was consoled by the fire officials. A woman tied a cloth around the lady’s head and her hands were rubbed also.

As per a report, the woman was identified as Damalla Prathyusha, aged 30. She was troubled by the problems in her family and hence, decided to end her life. The lady jumped into the domestic well and her relatives promptly notified the police, who then contacted the fire department.

Employing ropes, the fire personnel successfully extricated the woman from the well, as reported by District Fire Officer T. Venkanna. Following the rescue, officials provided counseling to both the victim and her family members.
