A man in northern India’s Rajasthan swallowed 56 blades, which were later operated out of his stomach after he vomited blood.

The incident is said to have happened in Sanchore area of Jalore district on March 12.

Visuals showed the scans which revealed the presence of blades inside his stomach. The doctors were seen at work as they took out the blades from his stomach and put them on a bowl. The blades were then taken out and placed on a thin strip of plastic.

Identified as Yaspal Singh, the man is a 25-year-old who works as an accountant at a private firm. According to a report, he had broken the blades into two and eaten it on March 10. He didn’t suffer any pain of getting cuts inside his stomach as the blades were covered by paper. But the problem began after that melted. The blades slowly caused him a lot of pain. Singh used to share a room with others and on March 12, they had gone out for work when his condition worsened.

He reportedly rang up his friends who came and got him medical help. First, he was admitted to the Manmohan hospital from where he was admitted to the Mediplus hospital in Sanchore. Doctors were shocked to see the presence of metal objects in his stomach after the X-ray was done. Sonography revealed the blades in his belly.

A three-hour-long emergency surgery was conducted after an endoscopy was done by the doctors. The surgery was successful as the doctors were able to extract all 56 blades from the man’s stomach. Among others, the team of doctors which operated upon the man included Gynaecologist Dr Pratima Verma, Dr Sheela Bishnoi, Dr Dhaval Shah, Dr Naresh Devasi Ramsin, Dr Ashok Yadav and neonatologist and pediatrician Dr Pushpendra.

It is yet not known why the youth did this.
