Leopard pounces on vehicle, attacks 13 people, rescued in northeastern India

 

In a shocking incident, a leopard was seen pouncing on a running vehicle and then running towards a residential area, has been rescued in northeastern India’s Assam.

The incident took place in Jorhat city on December 26.

The leopard was rescued by the forest department on December 27.

The footage of the incident showed visuals of an adult leopard coming out of a house and jumping over a fence as it moved ahead to pounce on a minivan moving on the road. The panic-stricken animal then was seen running towards a residential area which happens to be the Rain Forest Research Institute (RFRI).

As per further reports, the leopard attacked 13 people after which the forest department was informed. The forest department rushed to the spot and carried out the rescue operation which began with an observation campaign.

Later, the rescue team led by Iqbal Ahmed successfully caught hold of the leopard and tranquilised it. However, two forest officials got injured during the rescue operation.

The leopard was released safely in the Kaziranga National Park and the injured officials are receiving treatment in the hospital.
