Massive pilgrim rush in northern India, wait in narrow lines on hillside route
In a concerning situation, a large crowd of devotees were seen waiting on a hillside route in northern India’s Uttrakhand.
The incident took place on the narrow hillside route approaching Yamunotri on May 11.
Visuals showed a large crowd standing in narrow lines near a hillside route.

According to reports, a large group of worshippers gathered along the narrow hillside path leading to Yamunotri in Uttarakhand. This site is one of the revered destinations on the ‘Char Dham Yatra’ pilgrimage circuit, alongside Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Just a day after the opening of the Yamunotri temple gates to devotees in the Garhwal Himalayas, a significant surge of people was witnessed waiting in lengthy queues for hours.

These devotees expressed discontentment, stating that they had been waiting on the restricted pathway for nearly two hours, highlighting concerns about crowd management and safety oversight by authorities. The temples at Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Gangotri in the Garhwal Himalayas welcomed pilgrims on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya on May 10, signifying the commencement of the Char Dham Yatra (a tour of four holy sites – Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath – nestled high up in the Himalayas).
