Miner stumbles upon 3.15 carat quality diamond while mining in central India

A miner stumbled upon a 3.15 carat diamond while mining in central India’s Madhya Pradesh.

The incident happened at the Krishna Kalyanpur village in the Panna district on June 24.

Visuals showed a close-up view of the diamond. In another video, the miner was seen holding the diamond with a shy smile on his face.

The miner, named Surendra Pal Lodhi has been working hard for around nine- ten months at the mine, trying his luck to find a diamond. After so much hard work, he finally seemed to have gotten lucky as he got a much-deserved reward for his effort.

Originally a migrant labourer, Lodhi had made his way to the Panna district to make a living after COVID-19 had put an end to their income. After having found the diamond, Lodh hopes that this would help him deal with his financial hardships.

Upon discovering the gem, he deposited it in the Panna diamond office. The diamond would now be up for auction and it has been learnt that it could fetch around Rs 10-12 lakh ( USD 12771.64 – USD 15325.97).

Lodhi would be given the amount after government royalty is deducted from the amount.
