Nine-year-old boy rescued after falling into 200-feet deep borewell while playing in northern India

A nine-year-old boy was rescued after he fell into a 200-feet borewell while playing in northern India’s Rajasthan.

This incident happened in Bhojpura Kalan village of Jobner police station area in Jaipur city on May 20.

Visuals showed the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team at work as they were administering oxygen through a pipe. Besides the officials, a lot of people had gathered at the spot. The boy’s movements were being monitored and was seen on a monitor. The rescuers also were seen providing oxygen to the trapped child with the help of a pipe. After a lot of hard work, the boy was rescued from the borewell and visuals showed officials carrying him away in the midst of a massive crowd that was present at the spot.

 

According to a report, the boy, named Akshit, had visited his maternal uncle’s place for his summer vacations. He woke up in the morning and went to play when suddenly, he slipped and fell into the deep borewell in a field near the house. This happened at around 7 am in the morning. Akshit’s family members searched but weren’t able to find him initially until they heard his voice from the borewell. The police and civil defence team reached the spot at 8:15 am.

The SDRF team was alerted and soon they rushed to the spot to rescue the child. The rescue operation began at 9:15 am. They provided oxygen to him through a pipe and his movements are being regularly monitored. A pit has also been dug up nearby. Akshit’s condition was normal while efforts to rescue him were underway. Also, apart from the oxygen, he was provided biscuits to eat and water and glucose to drink. The boy was rescued eventually with the efforts of the SDRF along with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Civil Defense, police and administration. The rescue operation lasted for six hours and the boy was saved at 2 pm. It was learnt that he was brought out with the help of an iron net.

After being brought out of the borewell, the boy was taken to the hospital.
