In a bizarre incident, a man drained out nearly an entire dam in search of his lost phone that fell in central India’s Chhattisgarh.
The incident took place at the Kherkatta Dam built on Kotri river on May 21.
Visuals showed water getting pulled out of the dam through the pump. The officer’s name is Rajesh. His phone had slipped from his hand and fell into the water while he was trying to take a selfie on the premises.
It was learned that the pumps began draining water on Monday evening and ran until Thursday. Earlier, it was reported that about 21 lakh litres ( 554761.3 gallons) of water got drained from the dam by the official. However, a recent report by news agency PTI mentioned it to be as much as 41 lakh litres (1083105 gallons) of water.

However, an official from the irrigation and water resources department rushed to the spot and stopped the process following a complaint in this regard. Rajesh has reportedly got suspended by District Collector Priyanka Shukla on charges of misusing his position and not taking permission from the concerned official.
