Protesting farmers climb mobile tower in northern India, cops deploy fire brigade

Farmers from Tamil Nadu, a south Indian state have been protesting against the central government over issues with crop prices and interlinking of rivers and a group of them climbed up a mobile tower during the demonstrations, in northern India’s Delhi.

This incident took place at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on April 24.

Visuals showed the farmers up on the mobile tower. The farmers got up the tower and precariously hung onto the same. One of them also held out a flag and waved it. The fire brigade was then seen arriving at the spot and the fire officials later were involved in bringing these people down.

According to a report, the demonstration by the farmers started on April 23 and continued for the second straight day on April 24. Carrying the skulls and bones of the farmers who died by suicide, the protestors demanded that the government provide them with a profitable price for their crops and also a pension or Rs 5000 (USD 60.04).
