Rare green keelback snake rescued from residential premises in central India

A rare green keelback snake that strayed inside a house was rescued in central India’s Madhya Pradesh.

The incident took place in Shivpuri district on April 21.

Visuals feature the rare species of snake, green keelback seen crawling outside a house premises. The reptile looks completely green in colour.


The rescuer can be seen catching the snake.

Seeing this unique snake the people of the colony were scared. This information was given to Sarpamitra Salman Pathan, a resident of Narwar. On receiving the information, Salman Pathan reached the spot and immediately rescued the snake safely. Later the snake was released in the forest of Narwar area.

According to the reports, snake rescuer Salman Pathan said that this is the green keelback snake of India which can be found only in some places in India. Due to killing by humans, this snake species is on the verge of extinction.

Pathan also said that this snake is semi-beneficial, which is half poisonous. This snake looks very beautiful. He also stated that one should never fall into the trap of superstition, one should never panic if a snake comes out or bites. This should be immediately informed to Sarpamitra (snake rescuer) or the forest department.
