The visuals showed passengers who crowded the train’s premium coach without a ticket and revealed the inconvenience that was being faced by the passengers in the coach.
This incident is not new as recently, another video showed people boarding a 2nd AC train coach in the month of April. The coach remained congested with ticketless passengers.
According to reports, passenger traffic has jumped significantly in 2023-24. The Railways are now planning to introduce more Vande Bharat trains as well as 50 Amrit Bharat trains to tackle the overcrowding issue. Each train can carry 1,000-1,200 passengers. With 50 new trains, the total capacity will go up by at least 50,000 seats. Besides, capacity augmentation is taking place through regular trains as well.
