Search and rescue operations continue across Nepal and Tibet after devastating flash floods claimed hundreds of lives. Nepal has reported at least 389 fatalities while more than 900 people remain missing. Tibet has confirmed three fatalities with over 550 people still unaccounted for. It remains unclear whether some figures overlap.
Families continue to seek information about missing relatives. One woman from Kent said she has been unable to contact her sister who was near the Nepal-Tibet border when severe flooding struck. She appealed for help in locating her sister.
The flash floods were reportedly triggered by a glacial collapse on the Nepal side of the Himalayan mountains. International assistance has been reaching Nepal as rescue efforts continue. Britain is among those providing support. Prime Minister Andy Burnham pledged £5 million in aid earlier today. The scale of destruction has prompted continued calls for urgent assistance and efforts to locate those still missing across affected regions.
