CCTV captures chilling moment toddler falls from terrace in northern India

A two-and-a-half-year-old fell from the terrace while playing in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh on March 11. The incident took place in Naubasta, a locality in Kanpur.

Visuals feature the child playing on the terrace. He bows in the front to look down, following which he loses his balance and falls to the ground. Meanwhile, panic-stricken onlookers gather around and tend to him.

Hailing from a financially unstable family, the toddler, identified as Balwinder Singh Chawla, sustained grave injuries on his head and required funds for treatment. It is then that Sankalp Sewa Samiti, an NGO, stepped in and pooled in Rs 40 thousand (USD 525) for the child’s treatment.

Associated with Sankalp Sewa Samiti, Mr. Anil Singh expressed that the team swung into action after getting to know about Balwinder’s case. Apart from that, they also arranged a unit of blood for him and will be further helping him financially if need be.

The members of the organization also convinced the doctors at the Royal Children’s Hospital to allow as much exemption as they could, monetarily, for Balwinder. Moreover, the child is now out of danger but still in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for observational purposes.

The team from Sankalp Sewa Samiti that stepped forward for Balwinder’s aid included Santosh Singh Chauhan, president, Anil Singh, patron, Puneet Dwivedi, treasurer, and active members Subodh Katiyar and Vikrant Chauhan.
