Custom officials seize gold worth $40,053 at Delhi airport

The Customs officials seized gold worth Rs 30.55 lakh (USD 40,053) from a passenger in northern India’s New Delhi on April 20.

The incident took place at the Delhi International Airport. 

Visuals feature the officials retrieving the packet of gold stuck underneath the passenger’s wig. They slowly take the wig off to reveal the packet containing gold taped to his head.

The passenger was coming from Abu Dhabi when the incident unfolded.

Gold weighing 630 grams (1.3 lbs) was retrieved from his wig and rectum.

Moreover, he has been arrested, and further investigation into the matter is underway.
