Fun wedding ritual goes wrong as fight breaks out between bride and groom’s sides in northern India

‘Juta Chipai’ , a fun wedding ritual where the family members of the bride hide the groom’s shoes and later return it only in exchange of money, went horribly wrong as clashes broke out between the two groups.

This incident happened in Amroha district on April 21.

Visuals showed chaotic scenes where the bride and groom’s families had a go at each other. The people pushed and beat each other up and soon, what was supposed to be a happy and memorable occasion soon became one of gloom and tension. Both parties hurled chairs at each other and also smashed some on the ground. The conflict eventually subsided and things looked to head towards a solution. Both parties involved were also seen standing near a car at the venue. As per a report, two sisters got married and a fight broke out over the amount which was asked from the groom in exchange for his shoes in the ‘Juta Chipai’ ritual. The bride’s family reportedly had sought Rs 5000 ( USD 59.967) from the groom in return for his shoes. The groom’s car windows were also smashed in this conflict. The report also states that both parties eventually came to a settlement and no police complaint was filed.
