Indian Coast Guard (ICG) officials were seen patrolling the coast of western India’s Gujarat in view of Cyclone Biparjoy as per an official statement on June 12.

Visuals showed the ICG officials on a ship patrolling the coast of Gujarat in turbulent waters. During this, water also was seen coming into the shop as it sailed to keep a check on the coast. Manish Pathak, the Director General stated all preventive measures have been taken to tackle Cyclone Biparjoy.

“The Indian Coast Guard has taken all preventive measures. We have warned all the fishermen, though a fishing ban is in progress from the west coast of India from June 1 to July 31. However, country boats, the smaller ones which were out in the area have been shepherded back” Pathak said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier chaired a high-level meeting to have a look at how prepared Gujarat was to deal with Cyclone Biporjoy. He also asked the senior officers to ensure that the people are evacuated and essential services like power, drinking water among others were restored.
