Tourists left stranded mid-air after cable car gets stuck in northern India

As many as 11 tourists were left stranded after a cable car they were in, got stuck mid-air in northern India’s Himachal Pradesh.

The incident happened on June 20 at the Parwanoo Timber Trail in the Shivalik ranges.

Visuals show the cable car stranded mid-air. One of the tourists was seen being lowered down steadily using a rope. In another video, a second cable car is seen being used for rescuing the tourists. It was learnt that among the tourists were some elderly ones and children, who couldn’t get down using the rope. They have been stranded for more than one hour. 

According to a report, the cable car got stranded due to a technical glitch. It got stuck mid-air right above a deep ditch. Three tourists have been rescued. Efforts to rescue the other stranded tourists are currently underway with police and fire brigade teams having reached the spot.
